It's been a long time since we've had Uberzone play at one of our shows (Dec. '05), and it's been even longer since Uberzone has released a full-length album (2001). And during the past few years, there have been quite a few of us waiting very impatiently for another album. 6 years later, Ideology has been released, and we are finally getting some new music out of Q, and let me tell you, it was worth the wait!!!

Evil Breaks does it right once again with Uberzone playing LIVE along with Davey Dave at what is San Francisco's CD release party for the long awaited new album from Uberzone. We'll also be giving away a few of the new cd's as well as a bunch of other freebies. Check back here later, or sign up for our mailing list to get all the info on that.

If that isn't enough, we also have an amazing producer coming out from the East Coast to do a little live set for us (you are not ready for this), along with the Ambient Mafia in the back room, Viberation doing visuals, and the E.B. dj's owning the main room like they tend to do. I don't know about you, but it sounds like fun to me.......

Uberzone LIVE with Davey Dave
(Nitrus / City of Angels / Astralwerks / TCR / L.A.)
SF Ideology Album release party

His early singles, "Botz" and "The Freaks", released on taste-maker indie dance label City of Angels, were critically acclaimed club tracks that established Q as one of the leading American producers of breakbeat music. These singles were charted consistently by DJs like Florida's DJ Icey and the UK's Adam Freeland, among others. His remixes of Sarah McLachlan, The Crystal Method and BT also established him as one of the biggest names in the American dance scene. Spin Magazine named Uberzone as one of the six producers to create "the biggest beats ever." Q does have Faith in the Future. "Sometime during my life I turned from a pessimist into an optimist. Faith in the Future ties into technology, electronic music and my lasting desire to live in the Jetson Age." Perhaps that's why Uberzone's debut album, "Faith in the Future" has a feeling to it unlike any other electronic album. It recalls influences from quirky sci-fantasy film soundtracks to "Planet Rock" to dream-pop to the energetic, future breaks that Uberzone has created in ways no one else can approach.

J.Hazen
(Sound of Habib / Virus B-23 / System Rec / NY)

For quite a few years now this guy has been producing the wickedest beats, but would never perform. After a bunch of badgering, some good intentioned insults, and a few 3rd party threats, we're finally able to bring out what I consider to be, one of the most talented producers in the U.S. Although he's just recently had his 1st couple of official releases, his tracks have been rockin parties around the world for years. And to top it off, he's going to be performing a live set for us!!

Check out a mix from J.Hazen. Recorded Live on Halloween, this set is being dubbed the "Zombie Prom" mix. This one's nice and bouncy.....YEEEAAAH!!!!

FROM THE END IN LONDON, TO DC10 IN IBIZA : DESTINATION MIGHTY, SF

San Francisco, CA – August 17, 2007 -- Residents of London’s famed THE END and Ibiza’s renown Superfreq parties are coming to San Francisco. Mighty and Non-Fat present to you “The Superfreq Express” featuring the former member of The Shamen and “Tech House” originator/catalyst, MR.C; his protégé and esteemed producer, Adultnapper (Francis Harris); and the next big thing in Electro House – Dollz At Play. Featuring a feast of cosmopolitan, techno-electro, acid, minimal house and techno beats from legends and prodigies– this is a show San Francisco will never forget.

For over 5 years now, the Superfreq nights have been one of the best underground parties around the world continually challenging eclectic electro, house and minimal techno sounds. They currently run every Sunday at The End, as well as select North American dates with Made Event in New York & Miami with a new quarterly residency at Avalon Hollywood in Los Angeles. After three fantastic seasons in Ibiza, the party successfully migrated from club Underground to the legendary DC 10 last year and the mayhem is now fully underway every Wednesday this summer. In 2005, Superfreq Records was established with partner Luke vB and currently the label is establishing a firm foothold in the world of cutting edge electronic dance music while still retaining a serious element of fun inherent in the Superfreq mantra. On the production front Mr. C has teamed up with Brooklyn’s emerging talent the nefarious Adultnapper, under the guise of the Sycophant Slags.

A true pioneer of dance music Mr. C scaled pop culture heights with the psychedelic-influenced techno-rave act The Shamen in the 1990s as pioneers of the rock/dance crossover and harbingers of today’s scene. His devotion to underground dance music and ascension as tech-house doyen and co-owner of London’s popular The End nightclub has kept Mr. C at the top of his game and a mainstay of the global techno scene. "I phoned round the main movers and groovers in the tech-house scene and said, 'Look, if we all start using this word to create a genre for ourselves, the press can jump on it. All of a sudden we're going to be seen as the leaders of this music.' And it worked.” His commitment to experimentation and credibility in setting the standards for sophistication in all sub-genres of dance music has earned him world-wide prestige as he endeavors to take the sounds of the underground to new and more accessible heights.

Relying primarily on the ancient art of mixing two records, Francis Harris’s precision skills and thoughtful programming have earned him a reputation as DJ equal to his regard as producer an uncommon distinction. Adultnapper tracks have since appeared on some of the world‘s most esteemed labels Steve Bug’s Audiomatique, Frank Lorber‘s Nummer, Mr. C’s Superfreq, Mule Electronic, Dirt Crew, etc. and have been hotly tipped by elite Djs Loco Dice, Danny Tenaglia, Craig Richards, Sven Vath, Laurent Garnier, Sasha, Monika Kruse, Steve Lawler, Danny Howells, etc. thus firmly establishing Harris as one rare purveyor who steadfastly challenges the conventional wisdom and accepted shortcuts of post modern electronic music. On the decks, Harris intricately weaves divergent strains into a thick, pumping groove that subtly rises and falls, drawing the crowd ever deeper within his emotion-laden, melodic journey. Circo Loco at DC10, Ibiza, Cielo in NY, The End, Mulletover in London, Weekend in Berlin, Pawn Shop in Miami, Avalon in LA, are just a few of the world’s discerning floors that have been graced by Adultnapper and been left clamoring for more.

Dollz at Play are a new concept in dance music & with their punky, rocky style are the new generation of Electro-House. If you haven't heard of the Dollz At Play by now then you've been hiding under a rock for the last couple of years. The Dollz continue their proliferation of the dance music world in their own unique style by completely capturing the imagination of the unsuspecting masses.
On top of holding down their residencies at Superfreq at The End in London on Sundays & DC10 Ibiza on Wednesdays the Dollz At Play have been ultra busy jet setting around the world to the far flung reaches of the planet, playing their own take on modern electronic dance music. Since their rise & rise, the Dollz At Play have been picked up by some of the best DJ agencies in the world including www.wildebookings.com worldwide, www.itb.co.uk for the UK & naomismart@gmail.com in Mexico. They've become a sensation not only in the UK where the Dollz are based but also in Germany & France. Not only do the Dollz have great musical taste & technical ability but they are also uber-stylish, often raising the bar with fashion related to music. Having graced the front cover of DJ Mag and conquered gigs most DJs only dream of, Dollz at Play are giving new meaning to “revolution”.

Mighty is opening the flood gates to a minimal-techno-acid-house revolution that will surely change how San Francisco parties – and their bringing the people who created, make, sustain and operate the infamous DC10 and The End to make it happen.

We're doing 2 years worth of projects in one summer. Elevating what a communal musical experience can be - both figuratively and literally. When you see you will understand. To go over the top, as always, is a community effort.
In that spirit, we ask for the support of the community one last time on the late night front so we can create the greatest possible playground for you in Black Rock City.

Oh SNAP!!! It's once again fundraiser season, and Aaron Jae, Evinrude, and Robb Green are teaming up to form a new group that plans to bring you a couple of funrazors instead. For our 1st endeavor together we've got Australia's #1 dj comin back to SF for another show, and this time it's goin to be at a little underground spot in SOMA. The venue is on the smaller side, so we will be limiting attendance. You might want to consider showing up early to ensure your entrance to the show.

Kid Kenobi
(Ministry of Sound/The Bump/Cr2) - Australia

He’s Australia’s favourite DJ. Officially. Reigning champion of Australia’s premier DJ poll – the TechnicsInTheMix 50 – for three years running, it’s obvious who’s leading the charge. This poll has only been running for three years, which means Kid Kenobi has so far been the only number one. Voted for by the general public, the results of this poll reflect the feelings of a nation.

Along with badass Fun haters:

Mancub (Space Cowboys/Netamp)
Mozaic (Nexus/Raindance)
Aaron Jae (Evil Breaks/XM/Space Cowboys)
Evinrude (Space Cowboys/Stimulus/Netamp)
Robb Green (Shameless)
Dex Stakker (Opulent Temple)

Can we please, please, let it go already? I am so tired of hearing you bitch about house music and then dance your ass off to it. Please, educate yourself about what a "breakbeat" is and what a "house" track is. Here is a hint: if the beat is 4 on the floor then it is house. If it is broken up it is a breakbeat. That is the only fucking difference. Same tempo, same time signature, same software used to make it. Newsflash: every single "breaks" party I go to I hear house tracks and you are all still dancing. How about you stop hating and realize that, like any other genre, there is shitty house, mindblowingly great house, and everything in between, and that some of your favorite breaks djs spin house in the same set as breaks without you even knowing it?

Several years ago, a very particular style of house became enormously popular in SF and took a bunch of dj's all over the world. Many of them are still famous and make their livings producing music and djing across the globe. Generally the style of this music was loungey with a lot of vocals and, for those of us who like it dirty, edgy, raw, and are into shaking our fucking asses, very boring. Cool to listen to at the beach or something but not the kind of shit I want to hear at 2:30 in the morning when the party is raging.

I love great music. I don't care what "genre" someone spins. I care about their dj skills. I care about their ability to weave tracks together to create a new soundscape and make me beg for more. I care about whether they can reach inside of my soul and force me to dance or not, and if they can work a dancefloor into a frenzy.

I hate when you ask me what I spin. I know if I tell you that I spin house some of you will roll your eyes and never talk to me again. I also know that if you get your ass onto one of my dancefloors that you will be pleasantly surprised to hear twisted, gritty, techy, glitchy sounds with a banging 4/4 kick and a bass line that rattles your rib cage and that you will be dancing. Hard.

Oh, and when I try to hand you a flier it is a compliment. It means I like your style and your vibe and I am inviting you to attend an event that I am pouring countless hours into and spending thousands of dollars to produce. Looking at me like you just stepped in dog shit and not taking my flier because you think that the only events you ever might want to come to end up in your email inbox or on nitevibe.com makes you way less cool than you think it does.

Shit makes me really miss the scene in the 90's (which I suspect many of you weren't as keyed into) before people gave a fuck what "genre" it was and they didn't even know what the genres were and you'd hear house, breaks, trance, jungle, acid, and anything else all in the same party and everyone just danced until they were completely covered in sweat and our heartrates were pumping really hard and we kept dancing until the sun came up and then caught a few hours of sleep (maybe) in time to do it again the next night.

But this isn't about the past, it is about the future. How much more fun would the parties be if we all stopped hating and just supported each other? I hope to find out.

I think fatboy slim said it best. mp3.juno.co.uk/MP3/SF65778-02-01-09.mp3

STANTON WARRIORS - Genre spammers and breaks pioneers, Stanton Warriors (aka Dominic B. and Mark Yardley) met while working at the seminal garage label 51st Recordings. Natives of the Southwest UK and increasingly sick of contributing great work to other artists, they knocked heads, pooled resources and fashioned a pair of renegade tunes fusing the random playful hustle of nu-breaks with the sweeping good looks of early garage. It was to be the birth of breakbeat intelligence. They emerged the darlings of the remix set, serving fixings for acts like Basement Jaxx, Missy Elliiot, Artful Dodger, Busta Rhymes, Fatboy Slim, Chicken Lips, Azzido Da Bass, Mylo, Freeform Five & Apollo 440. XL pricked their ears up in 2001, signing the duo for the release of their full-length debut mix 'The Stanton Session' later that year. It wasn't long before their own brand of massive beats rolled clubs the world over harder than any sound heard before. 'The Stanton Session' knocked off competition from Fatboy Slim & Deep Dish to win best album at the Dancestar Awards, and incredibly again at the Muzik Magazine Awards, where they beat the likes of Dave Clarke & Danny Tenaglia. It also still remains as the biggest selling breakbeat mix of all time.

if there is anything like this anywhere this side of heaven, i wanna see it! unless it's on new year's day, of course, 'cause i'm sticking with BOC for as long as y'all want to keep doing it.

every time i walked up onto the roof deck, and then came back down into the breaks room madness, i marveled: how is it that this many people actually WANT to be doing this, at this hour? and with such enthusiasm? amazing! it's not for everyone, but that's cool, 'cause i think it's already crowded enough, don't you?

milestones in my observance of Breakfast this year include:
- working every kink out of every muscle in my body
- getting an entire tray of food all the way upstairs
- helping someone out who really needed it
- surviving & thriving through the whole blessed twelve hours

In only 5 weeks you'll be stumblin and bumblin around, feeling reassured that you are not the only one who thinks that Breakfast of Champions is the only way to bring in the year properly. I am starting this thread to as an homage to great things that have happened at BOC.

I'll start:
I met one of my greatest partners in crime at BOC a few years back, he's still my homey.

It went like this:
Me: Nice Shirt Bruva, "Got Breaks" Innit?
Him: Werd; Oh nice one on the shirt as well. "Got Meth" Innit?
Me: I say Nice One!
Him: I say Nice One Bruv!
Me: Nice One Bruuuuuuuuuuva!!!
Together: I SAID NICE ONE BRRRRUVA!
Then we both almost fell over laughing.

That was how I met Kaptn' Kirk.

Lets hear it.

Mancub (Space Cowboys/Sleevin Records)
It is hard to nail his style down, most would say “funky, sometimes nasty”.Chip “Mancub” Corwin is currently voted as a top ten dj of San Francisco. He has been blowing up the block party jams for over ten years. Mancub has a very diffinitive style of turntable tricks that have earned him slots beside some of the dance industry’s biggest headliners. His turntable antics are too numerous to mention but include scratching while wearing boxing gloves, he certainly knows how to work the crowd into a frenzy!!

Sister has been pushing the envelope of electronic music in a city that is pushing the envelope of electronic music for 9 years. Moreover, Sister has spent these 9 years working hard to help create a space for female artists in this industry. Although you may think that the concept of an "all-female crew" is a superfluous thing in this town, the moment you leave this city behind, it quickly becomes apparent that female artists are not treated/viewed as equals to their male counter parts. We still have a long way to go, which is baffling to me. i mean, when i listen to my Sisters:
Forest Green, Melyss, Seraphim, Amber, Audio Angel, J-Fi, Queen Agnes B, Polywog...

Have you heard these women perform? They will spin *anybody* under the table. They fucking rock so hard, it's mind-blowing!

Anyways, our annual drag event is a celebration of those 9 years of Sister SF: it happens to be the one occasion when we invite guys to perform at a Sister event, and they will do so in drag. To make it extra special, we are inviting one special female guest--one of our Sister NYC counterparts & good friend: DJ ICON!

********** And now the part where you come in: **********

Who are the ladies tag-teaming with? Or, more importantly: *Who will spin in drag this year?*
We don't know yet! Because we want *you* to help us build the line-up for "Sister SF Dragnet: We Like Boys IX"

Sound like fun? That's what we thought, too. How does it work?

1. Go here: http://sistersf.com/vote
2. Check out the list of 35 guys who'd like to wear our dresses this year.
3. Enter your name & email address.
4. Pick up to 8 of your favorite guy DJs you want to see in drag.
5. Build your party, by submitting the form!

You have until July 4th to vote: http://sistersf.com/vote

There is nothing else going on that night that will rock harder than this party at Mighty.
You've been forwarned.

BOOM!
We decided we would like to have one night a month of Cheeky be slightly more noble than that...and feature an up and coming local producer. We think it could be a cool forum for artists to meet/talk shop/dance etc and get to expose and get input on their work.

Chris Carter (TCR/Botchit & Scarper/Rec. Records) - London, UK

Chris is a widely respected DJ and Producer who is currently making serious waves with his current studio collaboration ‘Roxiller’ with JHz. Roxiller have recently contributed music for the new Sony PSP game 'Wipeout' & there is a significant buzz surrounding their current tune ‘Archangel/Big Chat Version’. With a stack of positive press & more superb releases in the pipeline, it’s clear these guys are gaining some powerful momentum.

Over the years Chris Carter has had a steady stream of releases on a number of based breaks labels. Jointly responsible (with BLIM) for one of the break scene’s biggest vocal tracks (as Kasha on ’U’, featuring Shara Nelson) he has since had releases on TCR, Botchit + Scarper, Forged, En:Vision, Secret Agent, Track, and his own co-run Record Records amongst others earning him a reputation as a master of well-crafted dancefloor tunes. He has also done extensive remix work for labels such as Botchit, Passenger and Forged.

Kid Kenobi (Ministry of Sound) - Australia

He’s Australia’s favourite DJ. Officially. Reigning champion of Australia’s premier DJ poll – the TechnicsInTheMix 50 – for three years running, it’s obvious who’s leading the charge. This poll has only been running for three years, which means Kid Kenobi has so far been the only number one. Voted for by the general public, the results of this poll reflect the feelings of a nation.

with MC Shureshock - Australia

A professional MC since 1990, Shureshock aka Cameron James Brown has MCed to practically any genre of music you care to mention. He’s rocked hardcore scenes, drum n bass nights, hip hop jams, house parties, live bands and so much more. Having worked it as the front man for new wave Aussie collective Zephyr Timbre, Shureshock’s no stranger to working with a full band, either. Working the festival scene, Zephyr Timbre is probably most well-known for its support of Jamiroquai on his 2002 tour. Nowadays, however, it’s breakbeat that’s getting the Shureshock touch.
