... 'cause I just snagged the book from a friend, and I'm wondering if I should get into it. Never read any of Vonnegut's stuff before.
What do y'all think?

yes, read it. vonnegut's a national treasure. and while we're here, note that the book's title, like the party of the same name, is a derivative of the breakfast cereal. and as with the party, let's be clear that use of the term serves as nether an endorsement nor a disparagement of any of general mills' fine products.

read them all, Breakfast of Champions is particularly funny, they even did a decent movie version, the book is better though

wait wait wait...
"Breakfast Of Champions" is really a BOOK?!
aw fuck this throws everything off now... -
-
i love kurt, but i have yet to read his "breakfast of champions" -- on my book to read list, fo sho.

-
Its one of my favorite Vonnegut books....right up there with Slaughterhouse Five.

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.the movie is awful, bruce willis? right?
the book is good, but I don't think its his best
the party is much better than the movie, book, or album - in my opinion
xx -
-
yes it was Nick Nolte and Bruce Willis, and you're right of course the best is the party,
I once found a book by Kilgore Trout (not sure if I spelled it right), the rumor amongst sci-fi folks was that
someone assumed the roles of writers in other sci-fi novels and wrote books by them.
I read "Venus on a Half-Shell' by Kilgore Trout, and it was very Vonnegut'ish

sheesh, it's been a while since I read any vonnegut. Is this the one w/ diagrams of bungholes? Gotta love a modern author who'll include that in their work.
Along w/ Slaughterhouse Five, I liked Galapagos too cuz, well, farts ARE funny! -
-
and you are corrrrect, hilife. impeccable recall of fine literature...
miranda, vonnegut is not my favorite author by any stretch of the imagination, but he's absolutely a must-read.
p.s. btw, i have a book you lent me last january :) -
-
What book is that, Ms. Orange? Did I lend you my copy of "extended massive female ejaculation techniques?"
Or was that Smoove?
Hmmmm.... I'm really bad about keeping track of that stuff. -
-
'tis an excellent book, really witty & wise at the same time. my personal favorite KV book is "Sirens of Titan".... worth reading.
-
You lent the book to Orange and the video to me.
I'm still trying to find my copy of "Ecstasy" by Irvine Welsh. -
-
Was Ecstasy as trying a read as Trainspotting? I swear that I had a headache after reading it each time. It's like reading a novel in a language that you never knew existed. I feel that it was easier to understand in the movie, which still is hard innit?
-
THAT book is, um, no longer suitable for return.
sorry.
but i can give you the vegan i-hate-everything-even-ice-cream book back. by mr robbins.
